Dr. Kai-Cheng Hsu is a board-certified neurologist specializing in dementia, stroke, and sleep disorders. He graduated from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine and pursued interdisciplinary training in engineering, earning a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Chung Cheng University.
From 2018 to 2020, Dr. Hsu was a research fellow at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, where he focused on medical artificial intelligence research, particularly the application of AI and bioinformatics in neurological disorders.
From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Hsu served as Director of the Artificial Intelligence Center at China Medical University Hospital, Taiwan, where he led the development of multiple AI tools that were successfully integrated into clinical workflows and certified by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) as smart medical devices. His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals in the field of AI in medicine.
In 2024, he joined the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to further advance AI research in the health and medical sector, focusing on applications in medical imaging, biomedical signals, electronic health records, and bioinformatics. Since April 2025, he has served as President and Chief Medical Officer of Acer Medical, leading efforts to accelerate the clinical adoption and industrialization of AI-powered healthcare solutions.
