Speech title & Synopsis

Navigating the changing landscape of AI in healthcare

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the current healthcare system. From drug discovery to care robots, AI is penetrating and changing every aspect of healthcare. Interestingly, AI itself is also rapidly evolving. While ChatGPT was released fewer than three years ago, we have had multi-agent AIs that are claimed to exceed human scientists in biomedical researches. As such, our healthcare system is being transformed by a technology that is growing ever powerful and impactful. Despite the technological frenzies, human wellbeing remains the ultimate purpose of healthcare. However powerful AI may be, it should always serve this purpose. To this end, AI as a game-changer to healthcare should be incorporated and properly applied in a human-centered ecosystem of healthcare, wherein policies, regulations, technology development, and stakeholder participation are indispensable.  Examples of this human-centered approach will be shared and discussed.
