Speech title & Synopsis

Stress EEG Assessment System

HippoScreen Neurotech Corp. (HNC) was established in March 2019 by Compal Computer's direct investment in the research team of Professor Liu, Yi-Hung. The company's core competency lies in EEG signal processing and artificial intelligence technology, aiming to develop AI-assisted EEG tools for the diagnosis and evaluation in mental/brain disorder field.
The Stress EEG Assessment (SEA) system was developed to assist the diagnosis of Depression. The system includes an EEG amplifier for data collection and signal processing, a GUI for test process control, and an AI algorithm for data analysis.

The AI model for SEA was built using EEG data collected through collaboration with three major medical centers in Taiwan, with a sample size of 400+ people. It has a sensitivity of 88% and specificity of 80% in detection of Depression. The research result has been published in Biosensors.
The test takes 15-20 minutes to complete and can be administered by layperson trained by the company. The assessment report, which provides objective and quantifiable SEA Index and intuitive data distribution maps, is generated in real time.
More than 20 hospitals and clinics in Taiwan have implemented SEA system in clinical practices. Physicians commend the objective system for its usefulness to enhance patient insight, leading to improved treatment adherence.
To broaden its positive impact, HippoScreen aims to extend the use of SEA beyond hospitals to corporations and communities. By conducting brief brainwave assessments, we help at-risk populations increase their awareness of the disease, promote early diagnosis and treatment, and strengthen the overall health and well-being of society.
