My research interest is cellular therapies for cancer treatment and regenerative medicine. I had a B.S. in Chemistry from Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan and received a Ph.D. in Chemistry, North Texas University, Texas in 1977 and 1987, respectively. After 6 years to study Developmental Hematology at Memorial Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), I worked as a Research Scientist to develop a protocol of Ex Vivo expansion of human hematopoietic cells to support cancer treatment at Amgen Inc.. In 1999, I was recruited to MSKCC, and investigated several research projects including Induction of human embryonic Stem cells to hematopoietic cells in vitro, small molecules high throughput screening against human primary cancer cells and primary normal human CD34+ cells, a xenograft model of human primary cancer as well as human hematopoietic stem cells in NSG mice, and Exosome Research. I transferred to Regenerative Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2017. My main research project is to use bioreactors to expand human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVEC), to coculture of HUVEC with human CD34 cells and to manufacture CART cells for clinical trial in the GMP facility. At present, I am a certified Advanced Biotherapy Professional accredited by AABB.
