Mark is Deputy CEO of UK Biobank and brings broad experience of technical strategy, IT delivery and domain expertise in health informatics and big data. Mark is a Chartered IT Professional and Fellow of the British Computer Society. He holds a PhD and MSc from the University of Birmingham.
This session will highlight how UK Biobank rapidly pivoted to support COVID-19 related research during 2020 and studies that UK Biobank has set up to help tackle the global pandemic. It will go on to describe how UK Biobank is aiming to facilitate access to, and analysis of, its database to make research as cost-effective and accessible for all, and will set out efforts underway to include very detailed genetic characterization of participants within the resource, and plans to add other -omics data, including proteomics and metabolomics.
