Under a microscope, don't just see it. GET it!! Optoproteomics is a revolutionary technology that totally changes your impression of a microscope, enabling protein "getting" physically at the subcellular location you are interested in on the microscope image you see.

Pioneered by Dr. Jung-Chi Liao's lab at Academia Sinica, optoproteomics technology converts a microscope into a "microscoop", picking up proteins at the regions your wish.With fully automated AI-based region recognition and high-content photochemical labeling, one can collect enough proteins for mass spectrometry-based proteomics to identify novel proteins for basic research or disease mechanism studies.

For example, if you are interested in knowing why some cells are infected by coronavirus whereas others don't, optoproteomics allows you to get them separately and identify key proteins potentially responsible for viral resistance. If you are interested in knowing what proteins are involved in immune cells attacking cancer cells, optoproteomics can be used to determine the components in the immune cell-cancer cell interface, i.e. immune synapse, and possibly suggest enhancement strategy for immunotherapy. There are a wide variety of problems that can be benefited by this technology.
