Markus is a Director at SHL Group. He investigates the market for connectivity and emerging technologies in the fields of secondary
packaging and drug delivery devices.
Markus has over 15 years' experience in the area of pharmaceutical packaging, leading various roles such as global key accountmanagement, research and innovation, and business development. Markus has run a technology startup, ConnectMeSmart, overthe last four years working closely with and for SHL. This work has looked into the application of new technologies such as smart phones, mobile apps, and connectivity. He also worked for Schreiner MediPharm between 2004 and 2014, and is the co-inventor of Needle-Trap, a label integrated needle stick prevention solution.
Markus studied process engineering at the Technical University of Clausthal and started his career in environmental and recycling
technology at RWE in Germany in 1997 prior to moving to the pharmaceutical industry Session Speech Title & Synopsis: Self Injection Technology for Biotech Products
A growing number of injectable drugs is supplied in injection devices such as Auto Injectors & Pen Injectors that allow self-injection by the patient. After a general introduction to the technology and specific requirements of devices for Biotech Drugs, the presentation will focus on the importance of the Device to Patient Interface. This will include recent developments in the field of Digital Health & Connectivity, where Smart Packaging & Smart Devices add further functionalities to the traditional field of Drug Delivery.
