Professor Albert Cheung Hoi YU is the Chairman of Hai Kang Life Corporation Limited. He is a well-respected scientist, professor and biotechnology entrepreneur. He devoted over 20 years in neuroscience, translational medicine, infectious disease research and contributed significantly in the development of molecular neurobiology and molecular diagnosis. He is the inventor of various cost-effective, user-friendly molecular diagnostic technologies for modern infectious diseases such as avian influenza and SARS, as well as cutting-edge molecular technologies for species identification and food testing such as detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). He also advances biotech development by commercialization and application of various biotechnologies. Together with his latest development on the proprietary EFADchip® system, which aims to revolutionize modern clinical diagnosis and many other industrial and commercial applications, Professor Yu’s innovations have been granted 65 patents. He also edited numerous books and peer-reviewed scientific articles. He had organized and chaired over 50 international conferences.
Professor Yu is a well-respected consultant and invited speaker and a member of many distinguished professional organizations and has served on numerous committees and boards and is active in many cross-cultural and industrial communities for the advancement and exchange of scientific and cultural knowledge. He was appointed as Justices of the Peace. He has founded the Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization (HKBIO), an important platform aiming to exponentially accelerate HK’s Biotech industry growth, Chairman of Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification, I & F Bureau, HKSAR, Chairman of Biotechnology Committee of the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), Director of Asian Fund for Cancer Research, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong-Taiwan Youth Exchange Promotion Association, Member of Board of Trustee of Gordon Research Conference, Chairman of GuangDong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area Biotechnology Alliance, Professor of Peking University, Vice-President of the Chinese Neuroscience Society, Former president of the Beijing Society for Neuroscience, Member of the Henan Provincial Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He also has edited 9 books and over 170 peer-reviewed scientific articles and conference papers, and had organized and chaired over 50 international conferences. He is now organizing a mega Biotech event, BIOHK2020, in 8-11 January 2020 in Hong Kong
