Dr. Paru Deshpande completed his PhD at Princeton University in the area of polymer self-assembly for lithography. After completing his studies, he joined BioNano Genomics, a US life sciences startup company, as part of the founding scientific team. He led projects in single molecule DNA detection and instrument and assay development. In 2012, he joined imec and is now Vice President R&D, leading the department of Life Sciences Technologies where he oversees groups working on biosensor platforms for diagnostics, neuroscience, genomics, ingestibles and other healthcare domains.
From diagnostics to treatment. From implantables to ingestibles. From data analysis to data storage. The impact of silicon nanotechnology in healthcare continues to grow and is matched only by the growing need for better care and better technical solutions. In this presentation I will share examples from imec and its partners showing how novel silicon devices and solutions can transform the way we think about healthcare and human health in general.
